Empowerment Evaluation in Spain 2010

Empowerment Evaluation in Madrid. Dr. David Fetterman spoke about empowerment evaluation at three masters' programs in Madrid.

Dr. José María Díaz Puente (far right in red in picture) invited Dr. David Fetterman to teach about empowerment evaluation in their master's program at the UNIVERSIDAD POLITÉCNICA DE MADRID. Their program is the UPM Master: Máster Universitario en Planificación de Proyectos de Desarrollo Rural y Gestión Sostenible. Dr. Fetterman focused on the steps and the principles of empowerment evaluation with case examples. He also taught about ethnography. The students were engaging, articulate, and appreciative. The students, faculty, and administrators were also extremely hospitable.

They are engaged in global projects that are aimed at local economies and helping communities become more economically sustainable.

Dr. Adolfo Cazorla is the co-author of Empowering communities through evaluation: some lessons from rural Spain with Dr. José María Díaz Puente and Ignacio de los Ríos Carmenado. Dr. Cazorla is also the director of the doctoral program.

Dr. María Bustelo also invited Dr. Fetterman to speak about empowerment evaluation at her evaluation program.

She is the Directora del Máster en Evaluación de Programas y Políticas Públicas. The talk focused on evaluation today and tomorrow (from an empowerment perspective).

The Big Debate at Claremont is Now an Article - JMDE

Journal of MultiDisciplinary Evaluation. The big debate between Fetterman, Patton, and Scriven - about empowerment evaluation and utilization-focused evaluation - is now in print. It was announced on EVALTALK today:
