Helpful Software in an Empowerment Evaluation: DoView for Mac and DoView 3.0 released
DoView for Mac and DoView 3.0 released
DoView is a new tool for quickly building visual outcomes models of what is happening in a program or organizations. DoView is being used by groups in 26 countries and in 43 US states. Outcomes models are logic models, theories of change, strategy maps and results roadmaps which show the high-level outcomes you are trying to achieve and all of the steps you are using to get to them.
DoView is a potentially powerful tool in Empowerment Evaluation because it has been specifically designed to be used when building visual models of programs in front of groups. This means that the group is much more likely to 'own' the model than if an evaluator goes away and draws the model themselves away from the group.
Once the outcomes models are drawn they can then be used for a range of different purposes, including building full visual evaluation plans. Such plans can be built in about 1/3 of the time it takes to build a traditional evaluation plan.
For more information on building a visual evaluation plan see: http://tinyurl.com/ otheory267. Information on the integrated planning and evaluation approach developed by DoView's developer Dr Paul Duignan is available at http://ResultsRoadmap.com. DoView can be downloaded for 30 days free trial. In addition any international development programs which cannot afford DoView can apply for a no-cost license on the front page of the DoView website. http://www.doview.com.
