This brief piece appeared in the American Evaluation Association Newsletter - January 2022.  It is a guest piece highlighting the perspectives of various evaluators in the organization.  I was asked to contribute a piece and this is the result.  It provides a glimpse into the development of empowerment evaluation - how it was introduced, received, and struggled to become a part of the intellectual landscape. It also provides an insight into the association's values and commitment to listening and learning.
